18.50 €Four hours in the wood oven.

Plaka, since 1974
A small family taverna two streets from Monastiraki. Everything on the menu was cooked this morning.
Our story
Our grandfather opened the place in 1974 with six tables and a wood oven. The oven is still working, and most of what we serve comes out of it.
The recipes are handwritten in a notebook we keep by the till. None of them have changed, except the one our grandmother rewrote in 1998 and never explained.

Four hours in the wood oven.

With Santorini fava and capers.

Whatever came in this morning, on the grill.

The best lamb I have eaten in Athens, and I say that as someone who eats out three times a week.

They treated us like relatives. The lady came out of the kitchen to ask if we had enjoyed it.

We went for one drink and stayed three hours. Be prepared to wait on a Saturday.
